I feel like I should write here again.  I'm primarily on Facebook, and while it's a great means for keeping in touch with folks, it's less good for chronicling and publishing adventures.  I tend to forget some of the cool things I've seen and done, which makes me seem even more of a boring person than my banker getup would lead one to believe ( Read more... )

Yeah, I think my LJ died a slow death due to facebook. That, and I was never much of a blogger.

Oh well. You can fill me in when I maybe see you in RL. We'll be in Portland in October for my bro-in-laws wedding (Oct. 14 - 17). Will you be around to hang a bit?

Heck yeah. Let me know if there's anything in PDX you particularly want to see - or if you just want to chill over a couple beers.

Hardly anyone I know posts to their LJ anymore, including me, so you're in good company. :)

From poking around on here, I tend to agree.

Does that mean "I exist"? My Norwegian is limited to "Jeg elsker deg". Tee hee!

I think it means "I exist." My Norwegian is... let's go with: "rusty."

All I remember with confidence now are the lyrics to "In Heaven there is no beer," which I'd translated into Norwegian senior year of college.

i haven't been so good about it since the new job got going, but for a while there i resolved to write three sentences a day in lj. i've actually continued to write notes on what i would write in an lj post, but i never get around to posting. i'll probably do a mega-update soon.

it is interesting that i got into lj to keep in touch with friends far away, and now none of those peeps update their journals. meanwhile, i've used lj to make a huge network of great local friends, and boston has a lot of local lj communities that i thrive. hell, were it not for lj i wouldn't have met kristen.

basically, i owe much of the life i have in boston right now to lj.

anyway, good to see you make a post. i miss our lj-banter.

four years in oregon? wow.

I miss our lj-banter too. I'd actually had an ex-girlfriend comment once on how our banter was of a particularly high quality. Honest.

I did meet some Portlanders on LJ, and some of those friendships transitioned into RL, but not many - it was pretty hit-or-miss for me. I think you have more of a knack for connecting with people than I do though (but I am secretly an old hermit, so that shouldn't be a surprise).

Four years in Oregon. It's gone fast.

I think i have to be good at connecting with people because of my family situation. And I had to be even better recently to network for a job. Anyway you are not as much of a hermit as you think. I prefer to think of you as an intellectual that takes time to cultivate his finer side. :-)
