Making History...Getting to Work

I am still in shock.    I want to laugh and I want to cry at the same time.

My vote was for Sojourner, Phyllis, Fanny Lou, Harriet, Sally, Ida, Mamie, Myrlie, Rosa, Coretta and all the brave women who have been beacons in the darkness.

To my great-grandparents and my grandfather and my cousin who did not live to see this day.

I'm proud to be human and to see that people can get together and make a difference. I'm happy that black people came out in droves and voted because it seemed like too many of us took that precious right for granted.

Thank you mooms!!! It's truly a great day to be an American!!!

Right now I'm still in shock and every time I think about it I start tearing up again. Next week, though, it will be time for me to shake off my cynical funk and start getting involved in my community. Obama called us to arms (figuratively) and I'm going to answer!

Hey there!

It's funny to hear some people say that "racism is dead" now that we have a black president-elect. Hmm, something that's as much a part of this country as race doesn't go away overnight. Obama's election is a good start, but certainly not the end of the conversation.
