But that's because Quadrophenia doesn't capture a mood as well as The Wall does. Quadrophenia just seems like an elongated Who album, as opposed to a legit rock opera.
Legit rock opera? As in the genre that The Who invented when Pink Floyd was still playing songs for their parents? What is Quadrophenia missing that would make it a legit rock opera?
A coherent storyline? A storyline that can be fully understood from listening? I thin that Quadrophenia, while being spectacular music-wise, as a rock opera it falters. The Wall has sweeping mood and emotion, and actually has a decent story and superb characterization. Quadrophenia? Not so much.
