[The audio turns on, but there is no immediate sound... even though it’s obvious that there is someone on the other end after a click or two. There is rummaging and the hollow sound of an instrument set up now, some shuffling as they sit down. Before long, there begins a guitar plucking to
a song.
He does falter a couple times. Tries out a test note. For the most part he’s practicing with the overall sound of the instrument itself. Quickly he’s able to pick off from the tune he is attempting to carry, trying it a couple of times in different variations. Overall, though, the guitar is definitely a guitar and the song is a song. He carries it out and it’s not so bad.
Song pauses. When he speaks, his singing voice comes out as rather raspy, like it’s not really meant to sing at all. Yet behind all the sickliness he suffers, he’s somehow able to carry something of a tune while playing at the same time.]
“Come again like a light in the sky,
“Heroes fall as the day goes by;
“Life it seems is still inside here.”
[Strings pick up again.]
“Be strong, the end will come,
“Does no good to rush alone;
“Even in the days to come
“You’ll see that I was wrong.
“Invading heartless stare,
“Friends you had were never there.
“One to blame was you.”
[The acoustic strings carry on again. There is the sound of a distinct echo wherever he’s from, even if the location itself is a little unclear. He could just be using someone’s computer, but who knows for certain. By the end, the same chorus repeats itself before the song fades, the audio shuffles, and the song quietly ends. The voice of Alexander Wolfgang is then heard. Hard as it is to believe, he sounds worse than before.]
“Sssooo, I had this dream... not too long ago. A woman. And, I think...” [He pauses.] “I think I know. How it’s gonna end. My part.
“I’m a benefactor of Ophelia, the slaves of mortar and smoke. Some other nasty names and all that. Born to die.”
[He coughs.
What a shitty deal.]
