It was one thing to bring the Admiral into his inner sanctum- he was an honored guest and fellow warrior, and would most likely end up killing him. But the other prisoners of war would not be brought into the Major's basement. Instead, once his soldiers had secured them and brought them back they were all deposited in the seating of the Opera House, their communicators and any weapons all confiscated. The Admiral was also moved upstairs for the sake of security. The Major grinned down at them from the stage, a spotlight shining on his gleaming suit, teeth and glasses as he welcomed them to his base.

"My new friends," he said. "You are of course wondering why you have been brought here, why you have been abducted against your will and are now held under threat of suffering and death. Unfortunately, you have become casualties of war. Although you may have no direct quarrel with me or my unit, I have decreed it necessary that you be seized for the purpose of facilitating our continued operations, and so you have been seized. That is all there is to it!

Please do not waste our time or yours with protest or resistance. We have done far worse things than this without the slightest hesitation, you know, in fact with the greatest of enjoyment! There is no appeal you can make to our reasons or conscience that will be listened to. There is no form of resistance you can try that will not result in your suffering and the suffering of your fellow prisoners. Cooperate, and you will survive this encounter with mind and body relatively unscarred. Do not cooperate, and you will learn firsthand why we of the Waffen-SS once held an entire continent in mortal terror." He took a deep breath, relishing the sensation of once again being master over innocent lives. The prospect of casual and pointless brutality never ceased to be a filthy little thrill to him.

"But do not despair! This, like all things, is temporary. In the meantime, make yourselves as comfortable as you can. You could ask for far worse prisons, you know! It is a fine, high-class Opera House, a worthy setting for this fine and poignant drama you are now participating in. Consider this an intermission before the climactic act." The spotlight dimmed and the Major began walking slowly off the stage, leaving his prisoners and soldiers to enact their little tableaux as they saw fit.
