While I agree it is an outrageously high number, there are two things to consider. First, the polling company is considered extremely reputable. Second, Putin is very good at propaganda and he controls the media: put out my message or you lose your broadcast license and/or go to prison! If yours is the only message going to the people, your poll numbers are going to be high.
So it can be an accurate number and still be wrong. If the people knew the truth, it is doubtful it would be up that high.
Exactly. Regardless of whether the poll company produces good results or not, if the population isn't giving honest responses, then what's the difference?
