as far as I know it's "by god!" the same way "bloody" is "by our lady!" or "zounds!" is "god's wounds!" - (but I could be totally wrong.)

SORRY I don't know what to say other than RMUN is eating my brain and I am a friend of fail and um maybe next time we should plan to eat ice cream AT MY HOUSE so you can just SHOW UP and we can do it before we change our minds. except given our track record my house will probably get swallowed by a black hole two hours before you come and that would not be fun. yeah.
