I tell everyone I hate messing around, but actually all the major life decisions I am making are made with the aim of subtly facilitating further messing around. I have no idea what to do with my life. I will probably do whatever I am told to do by whomever puts it most convincingly. What would you do with an irresolute and dilatory youth who has read too much in the way of nonsense? If your answer is, give her a scholarship, then we may have a deal.

I was going to say a lot of superfluous stuff about how RSC's King Lear was brilliant and Ian McKellen was perfect, but upon reflection all the good things I have to say are superfluous and the few bad things I have to say are petty. You will have to take my word for it: it was devastating, and very good, and I will never be able to watch another King Lear, ever.

In other news: two hours of sleep, one paper down, and one to go!
