Aaaaah, I have to talk about the Israel trip in front of the church in nine hours. How did this happen? Dangit, I hate talking in front of people. I hate doing ANYTHING in front of people, actually, but I don't even know how to say whatever it is I'm supposed to say. The last time this happened, everyone ended up thinking that I was making some ( Read more... )

I think by now you've probably done your talk (if I've got the time zones correct), I hate public speaking too. What you told them is the probably sort of info I was looking to pass on to my minister so that people at my Church can pray for you too. I'd be interested to hear about it anyway.
"last time... sort of a joke" what happened/were you doing then then? :s as for being embarressed, when you're doing something like this why worry :)

Have a good time with your mates

Oh, the joke was a story I told after getting back from a short-term mission trip to Mexico. The story I had prepared was too much like everyone else's, so instead I talked about cultural contrasts, using a man who jumped out of a dumpster as an example. Since I was nervous and hadn't prepared to talk about it, I used waaay too much detail, especially when I tried to explain the the milkshake I just had was wonderful (which it was) and just as I tried to dispose of the container... A guy jumps out of the trash! I don't really know why it was so funny, but everyone laughed.

Annnyway, this time I was able to be intentionally funny, which is a rare instance even when I'm talking to one person, and I was very proud of myself. It's sort of hard to explain exactly what I'm doing because I'm not completely sure myself. Basically, I know a family there, they know of opportunities for me to help them in their ministry, most specifically Nazareth Village. If you're looking for specific needs, probably weather adjustment (I'm prone to heat ( ... )

Glad it was good for you. Did you notice the link above? According to our site we have around 180 members but the congregation is bigger. You can look around the building with this walk through I created but that makes it look empty :s

News today doesn't look to good in that area of the world. Be safe.

It is very cool that you're going to Israel this summer. I think traveling abroad is one of the most important things a person can do and the Middle East is undoubtedly one of the most interesting places one can go. Good luck! Will you be at WVC next year?

WVC? Ha! You, my friend, are reading the words of a recent recipient of the revered Associates Degree. It hasn't come in the mail yet, but I passed all of my classes and my calculations pronounce me graduated. Hurray!

Aren't you going somewhere in South America? What's going on with that?

You speak correctly. I will spend a month (July 21 to August 22, approximately) at a language school in Guatemala learning Spanish with a friend of mine. I think the Latin will actually help alot, and I'm going to start reading Harry Potter en Espanol to prepare myself. Here's to not staying in the USA!
