There are people that mentor you. Mentor has become to much of a catch phrase, I mean MSFT has a "mentor" program... but I mean really teach you life lessons. although I usually see it spelled "nerfing" it is a term meant to refer to the nerf version of toys. Nerfing usually means making something softer or easier.

It gets used in MMORPGs to mean that powers have had their abilities dropped down in some way, usually with new updates.

In this case, it seems to mean "taking the easy way".

(and J, please do correct me if I am wrong here, but I'd be surprised if this is a completely different word)
