Last night my wife told me about a new "flying fox" that was discovered in The Philippines. And through my friend stauros who posted it in his LJ, here is a picture of the new type of fruit bat.

Awwwww! It's just as cute as the Australian variety! But it has white on its wittle face! =^.^=

It's a small little bugger, too! Is that a baby that the guy's holding or an adult? o.O

I'm not too sure. I read the article and it didn't say if it was a baby or an adult.

Eeee! It's so cute!!! :D
Bats are so beautiful, I don't understand why some people seem to be afraid of them.

(I'm here via hearmemeep's journal, btw.)

I've always loved bats and have been fascinated with them. I love going to see them at any zoo. I'm guessing some are afraid because of the vampire bats and the fear that they will bite humans for their blood when in reality they only eat the blood of other mammals. If others knew more about them and their behavior, then they would be less likely to be afraid.

And glad that you got to see the entry.

Well, some places, bats carry rabies, and that's a good reason to give them some room. Especially if we're talking Third World, where anti-rabies medicine may be in lethally short supply.

That said, add me in to the "I like bats" column.
