Evening Whitlam's fans!
Had a brilliant night last night at the final Melbourne gig at The Corner Hotel! I think Tim and the band were happy with last night too...because Tim didn't seem to want to leave...as they performed an extended set-list (their whole set went for almost 2 hours!) including 3 request from the crowd...which probably proved the highlights of my night due to the highly emotional and powerfully rocking renditions of "End of Your World" and "Melbourne"!
I had heard that they last two nights the band had hit the stage around 10:30pm...but last night they were on stage soon after 9:30pm last night (good thing I arrive "early" at about 9:20pm...but it did mean I missed the support act). I missed out of a good position though (yeah...I like to be up the front near the stage too!)...but was happy enough with where I ended up behind the main bulk of the packed crowd.
I can't remember the exactly running order of the set-list...but it included all these songs and went in an order similar to this:
Beauty In Me
Been Away Too Long
Fall For You
Royal In The Afternoon
Made Me Hard
I will Not Go Quietly
White Horses
I was Alive
You Sound Like Louis Burdett
Fondness Makes The Heart Grow Absent
Keep The Lights On
Stay With Me
Charlie #2 (Buy Now Pay Later)
No Aphrodisiac
Blow Up The Pokies
Encore 1:
Little Cloud
She's Moving In
I Make Hamburgers
Encore 2:
12 Hours
Year of The Rat
Thankyou
Encore 3:
Fancy Lover
End Of Your World (crowd request #1)
Melbourne (crowd request #2)
Laugh In Their Faces (crowd request #3)
Band on Every Corner
Of course I took my camera along with me...and annoyed the people around me with my forever ongoing cam-whoreness! Unfortunately my digital camera is on it's last legs with the optics begin rather stuffed...so the results weren't so good.
I had a great night! Shame I couldn't catch any of the other shows...but last night was very satisfying. And cheers to
goddess_grapes who had 4 songs brought live to her lounge room via my mobile phone! "Keep The Lights On" was just sounding too good not to share it with the outside world!
