Well, I have a vanilla candle that I bought for the bathroom to make it smell a bit nicer. That's pretty much it in the way of scented candles, I think. :P

Cinnamon and coconut are two of my favourite scents.

I have a whole book on aromatherapy, so to tell you which scents do what would take a long time. I will say that the book covers individual scents, not lump commercial things like "carrot cake".

Some people think candles are toxic. I don't know a lot about this.

I have never heard of melting candles...and interesting concept.

I'll giv e you a few ideas about scents and what they do for people. Peppermint is envigorating. Lavender is soothing. Citrus scents tend to be "brightening". Rose and ylang ylang are sensual scents.

Okay, I don't remember as much as I thought I did...sorry Ihaven't been in touch lately. Life has been busy. I'll talk to you on-line soon.

Pumpkin pie is a nice scent. I think I remember having seen such candles too. :) Fall smells are nice smells and its my favorite season.

Zellar's is probably the best place to go if you want decent sampler candles at a reasonible price. That's where I was getting my cocanut ones. Chances are the x-for-a-dollar candles contain lead wicks. see my post to faerie_spark for details.

I tried these coconut marshmallows that Katthor had gotten from Freak Lunchbox and they were quite nice. I actaully don't mind coconut. If anything its pineapple I don't really care for.

Hmmm, favorite scents - apple cinnamon and gingerbread, especially around Christmas, also blueberry, strawberry, roses, lilacs, lilies, fresh breeze, sea breeze. Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. I like vanilla and chocolate if I can find candles with good scents, not harsh, bitter ones.

Carvis doesn't like us burning candles unless the power is out or it's Christmas. So we don't burn then very often. I do find that an exposed candle will give off some scent and will fill a small area, about 2-3 feet from it, with the scent. I pick up my candles from the drug store, Zellers, and Wal-mart. Once in a while I'll get them from the dollar stores but only if it's something I can't find someplace else and then usually for decoration not burning.

When the melter is running and it has in its cup a strong scented candle, I can smell it faintly from my room, while the melter sits in the far side of the living room from me. IF its the smoke he doesn't like, a melter doesn't produce smoke *when used properly). If its the scents that bother him, I guess you just can't have them. Ah well. Interesting assortment of scents you have there. Most of the scents I mentioned are the kinds I have come across in candle form and I've left it at that.

He's worried about the flames.
I'm actually the huge lover of candles, owning a whopping 46 candles of various sizes and shapes in this house. ;)
There is a good set of candles out that are either smokeless or don't drip wax called "Ice" Manufactured here in Canada. You can buy them at South of the Border for fairly cheap prices. (Roughly $0.50 to $2.00 a candle.)

As Mouse said, he's paranoid about the flames. Yet I'm the one who has lived through two fires.

All the scents I mentioned are in candles we own. Ask me next time you come by and I'll show you.

When it comes to scents, I find that incense.. you know, joss sticks and cone incense works much better than scented candles, providing you can stand the smoke. The scents are always richer and last longer and there's no mess aside from a little ash.

But.. a melter? I've never heard of a melter.. you can really get them? Do they.. just.. melt the candle down into a puddle of wax, then..? *looks befuddled* Ignore me if this is being stupid.. but.. I've never heard of them.. just incense, scented candles burned at the wick and oil scent burners. O.o;
