Is how I feel right now. Ok, not true. I have calmed down some, but I still have my moments where I want to start chewing on the furniture and lash out at the world

god, what a condescending prick. despite everything he was saying about age and experience, it sounds like he was the one with all the emotional baggage. I mean, when mum met my dad, she was 18 and he was in his 40s! you can make anything work as long as you respect the other person.
don't be insecure samantha, it was his loss.
glad you enjoyed your canada trip anyway, can't wait to see the photos!
LOL, condescending prick, huh? Haven't heard that one yet, oddly enough. I have no idea what kind emotional baggage he may or may not have, but I do agree that any sort of age or life difference shouldn't matter. And we'd only been on three dates. Isn't that a little early to decide whether a relationship isn't going anywhere?
I know it's his loss...but it's that weird voice in the back of my head. It's a killer, you know?
You know I'm in the same boat as you (well, now WORSE, really!), so I completely feel your pain on this one. But I think you should have fought him on this one. I think you should have smiled at him and told him that all your lack of dating experience means is that you haven't got any ex-boyfriends for him to worry about you going back to, and you haven't got anyone to compare him unfavorably to if he doesn't buy you something expensive or pay for all your meals, and the REASON you were holding out on dating was because you knew enough about guys to wait for someone who was REALLY special, and if he's still weirded out by all those selling points, he can go find himself a girl who's got PLENTY of experience. Because THOSE are not hard to find at all.
Anyway, I wouldn't worry about the next time around, because chances are, there won't BE a next time around like this. You'll now be able to say, "Yes, I've dated a bit, a few kisses here and there, but you know, NOTHING SERIOUS." Guys like that.
I'm pretty sure he has taken all of that into some kind of consideration. But it was pretty obvious from the start that this wasn't going to go too far because of my lack of experience. I never felt he was too old for me, but rather that I was too young for him. I know it doesn't make much sense, but that's how it felt. Also, I was the one working to keep up communication. I texted and emailed him and the dates after the first one were my idea. I just felt like if he has this reason now, even if I managed to dissuade him from breaking up with me, I'd forever be doubting whether or not he actually wants to stay with me or if he is just trying to find a good time to break up again. Frankly, if you're going to have any doubts, then we shouldn't be together. I'm not going to impose myself on someone who doesn't know if they want me.
