I am going crazy here! While I am enjoying my lovely new computer, all is NOT as it should be. This whole thing with iTunes has me running around going bananas! First, I can't update the program. Then I can't uninstall it. I tried uninstalling Quicktime first and no luck. Then I tried to find an alternative to iTunes, but the sound doesn't work. ( Read more... )

Damn, that sucks. Are you running Vista? I've heard there's compatibility issues with just about everything.

Also? *runs Vista*

God, why put a new platform in computers if nothing syncs up with it?! Doesn't make sense!

I am beginning to see why people hate Vista with such a passion.

One of the many reasons why I use Linux instead...even though Windows 7 is slated to come out later this year or early 2010.

Yeah I know, but the thing is if I switch to Linux, I can't use iTunes and as much as I hate that dratted thing, it's what I use for my iPod. So now I'm stuck waiting for Win 7 with no real hope that the upgrade would help anything.

You don't need iTunes in Linux. The "gtkpod" application handles your iPod in much the same way iTunes does (transfer files to your iPod, manage playlists, etc). I have two iPods (2nd gen Shuffle and 3rd gen Nano) and both of them run perfectly with Linux.

Hmm, and I guess any music I can buy I can still get other ways. I'll look into it. The frustrating thing is Vista is just so damn pretty, but you're right it's all just bells and whistles. And the gtkpod also handles podcasts and such?
