This was a poem written for for my english class. It took two days to work on. It was supposed to tell a story, and have a moral in the end. (An assignment after reading "The Canterbury Tales")...here's mine.
[Edit] Intro Added.
A story teller one might find her to be
A young lover, as others soon will see
Held in her head, is a story she tells
Of how all in life, doesn’t always prevail
A short soft spoken beauty there
Pale skin, dark eyes, the blackest hair
Pale lips, dark clothes, bag to her side
She’s quiet yes, but has nothing to hide
She tells a story how one loved and lost
Her story tells how another’s heart hung on a cross
She tells this story with misty eyes
She tells it sometimes stopping, you’ll hear many sighs
This girl has a broken heart so it’s easy to see
Why she thinks she’ll never fall in love again, like you and me
This girl is young, she’s got her life to live
She finds it necessary this story to give
She warns others of problems, she warns other in care
She wants others to always be aware
She’s caring and loving, and has many thoughts
She’s patient and will go out on a limb for another, whatever the costs
Quite secular, although spiritual she’s ever knowing
She has a heart that is always seems to be growing
She’ll tell you all she can, about any subject
She tries to fit in, but is still a reject
She’s quite smart, but that’s unseen by most
She’s quiet about her problems, and doesn’t boast
She’s wonderful to her few friends
The love she gives has no end
Hearing this you must have based your opinion
Now take that and place it in a tin
For your eyes will be opened, your thoughts will change
For this story will send your thoughts on a different range
Kai was a girl, held back by none
Kai was a girl, who had held a gun
Straight tot her head, thinking it wouldn’t end
Because of a broken heart, she thought no one could mend
She could be beautiful she thought
Long black hair, green eyes and a tan
She was thinner than most, no quite short, not quite tall
The reddest lips, the cutest clothes
She was quite happy until these feelings did impose
Kai met the boy, the one whom she loved
On an October afternoon, that had been sent from above
She sat at the park, surrounded by friends
But because of this fateful day, she thought her world would end
Upon meeting she knew, he had someone in his life
But she thought in the end, she would be his wife
A few months later, a friend called and said
He wants to see you, you and those lips so red
He likes you Kai, you’re a lucky girl
Kai and him spoke on the phone
Night after night, making each other laugh
She thought she was going down the right path
They soon started dating, everything was perfect
She never thought this relationship would end up a defect
She and he were the perfect fit
Like pieces in a puzzle, until this next thing hit
She was told she was moving family and all
She would be far from him, but they always could call
The two of them thought they could do it
They had come so far, they weren’t going to quite
Leaving him was a hard thing to do
But it was ok, they would come through
Her phone bill went up, they talked when they could
She sent many letters, her heart was left nude
They shared everything in their letters
He loved her more than she thought
She didn’t see it they but their relationship began to rot
He wrote serious letters of marriage soon after
She wasn’t ready for that, it kind of scared her
She told him how she felt, she told him “I love you,
I’m just not ready to think about the day I say I do”
This pushed him away, he felt turned down
He didn’t see, she still wanted him around
They slowly lost touch, phone calls didn’t come again
Kai slipped into depression, wondering why they did end
She visited that old place she lived, a place she feared
She was scared to see him, it brought her to tears
She was scared to run into that boy who she had loved
But she knew she had to, it had to be done
The night before leaving she met him in that same spot
The spot where they met, they met at the park
They talked things over, they cried and smiled
They felt happy and together for that short while
They kissed and hugged, exchanged the words they hadn’t before
He walked back into her life, he walked through the door
They talked about things that had gone wrong
They wanted to try again, singing a different song
They both felt complete, she thought the hurting had ended
(Oh but this was only the beginning of the hurt she had coming)
He gave Kai his journal, he shared the words he wrote
He professed his love, in each written note
She didn’t comprehend this so quickly
She was still in a daze, this would be the last time his face she’d see
Their last night together, for almost a year
She had to get going, their future she didn’t fear
She thought they’d make it, they’d spent so long together
The time apart though, also felt like forever
Again they wrote after she went back
Feelings were something his few letters didn’t lack
But all of a sudden letters stopped
Kai waited and waited, the clock ticked and tocked
Time went by, their calls came rarely
Kai didn’t think that her heart was being treated fairly
He told he told her one day after a month of not talking
“I almost forgot you existed”, she couldn’t stop her heart from dropping
After that she wanted him to be the way he was before, so bad
She couldn’t believe this guy would leave her so sad
He never said “We’re over, done or through”
She didn’t know what to think, she didn’t know what to do
Kai found out later him and an ex of his were friends again
She felt out of place, to her this was a sin
The other girl had cheated on him before, and he had despised her for that
Now it looks like he doesn’t, hearing this she fell back, and on her bed she sat
Her heart walked over, her emotions torn
When she found out they were dating again she was left alone
She hadn’t held onto him she blamed herself for doubting
She once doubted his love, but now she’s left pouting
Kai still thinks of that boy, he still holds her heart
She hopes its only distance, not love, which keeps them apart
She should have never doubted him, she should have went on
She should have listened, she should have stayed strong
If ever you’re doubting a love from another
Listen to your heart or feelings will be a bother
Keep in touch, stay faithful and true
Even though things didn’t work out for Kai they just may for you
This boy may still lover her, and just be passing time
He may also have just moved on, she’ll learn to accepted this
Either way, she loved and lost
Her heart was used and in the end just tossed
She’ll always remember the boy whom she had loved the most
She’ll always remember the boy named Santos
