I know how you feel about having a "substitute grandma." It's been the same for us too, and also nine years since we lost our Yiayia. It's still a little strange to have Irene in the picture sometimes, but it's good when older people can find someone else. I think it definitely helps them live longer, happier lives.

yeah, i cant imagine my grampa living alone for these past 9 years, same with rosemary, she lost her husband like 8 years before her and my grampa got married. you know whats weird??? my grampa and rosemary actually dated before he even met my real grandmother, nanny. how fucked up is that? but yeah, im glad they have each other. i just hope that my nanny is happy.
