first of all, i would not call hays a CITY. haha.
anyway my guess is that it wasn't a kansasan at all, but a hippy passing through on his way to california. i don't think goodwill pays you, i think it's all donations but i'm guessing that this hippy was just trying to simplify his life or something, maybe also had it on vinyl or tape, didn't need 2 copies.
or maybe it was the same kid who's skateboard i have (which i got for a mere dollar folks!) perhaps this lad was enjoying some good rock and roll and skateboarding to the chargrin of his ultra religious parents who sent him to bible camp and gave away all his stuff?
