That Jesus movie sucked balls!

Mar 14, 2004 20:19

Last Friday I went to see that stupid Jesus movie with my sister. We couldn't get into the 6:50 show on account of all the emotional little Christians so we attended the late show. Actually that worked out better because anybody who would have been likely to cry, evangelize, pass out pamphlets, or run screaming out of the theatre was probably in ( Read more... )

Here is a nice quote from G.K. Chesterton:

"When such a critic says, for instance, that faith kept the world in darkness until doubt led to enlightenment, he is himself taking things on faith, things that he has never been sufficiently enlightened to doubt. That exceedingly crude simplification of human history is what he has been taught, and he believes it because he has been taught. I do not blame him for that; I merely remark that he is an unconscious example of everything that he reviles."

yes, but nothing is 100% sure. Heck, Descartes made that one pretty clear. All that we can really be sure of is that we are thinking, that's it, can't prove anything else. You must remember that just because one has faith, it doesn't make it true. hehe...all we can say for sure is that there is nothing for sure.

what's with the hate-christians ideal in your family? people can't believe differently than you and your sister on things? i'm glad you don't believe in hell and can do whatever you damn well please with your life, like wasting it on thinking you know everything already. miserable people are miserable because they have nothing to believe in and be good for and challenge themselves with. i can't wait to see what witty and sarcastic comment you have in response to this.

how do you know that we're even related? I could be her wife for all you know...hehe. JK! I'm assuming you know us somehow, otherwise you wouldn't make the assumption. My family doesn't hate christians, in fact unfortunately both my parents are strict Baptists, , my uncle does a prison ministry in Virginia, my great aunt was a frickin nun, and I have Lutheran ministers in the tree as well. We don't hate Christians per se, we only hate people forcing their morals, ideals, agenda on everyone else. That is what the christian right is doing right now. That is why gay marriage is not granted, that is why today a fetus is now considered a full person according to the Senate, that is why churches are tax exempt, that is why we have Under God in our pledge even though it wasn't in the original and was added in the McCarthy era. We do not want a theocracy, if you want that go to Iran. I'll admit, my sis has some bizarre opinions, but even though bizarre they have an element of truth in them that people are way too afraid to say. She's a ( ... )
