If you use IE, Firefox, Camino, or (I think) netscape, and you type your entries in 'rich text' mode, there's a button that let's you add an lj-cut. Highlight all of the text that you want under the cut, and then click the little icon that has a few lines of text and then a squiggly line underneath it. It's next to the insert table button. Then it'll prompt you to put in the text that you want the link to have, like "click here for more" or whatever.
Then, poof. Lj-cut.
OR, if you want to type in the code yourself, it would looke like this (without the asterisks):
<*lj-cut text="type your linky text here"> blah blah blah the text behind the cut goes here <*/lj-cut
( ... )
i think you and i have talked about this before. maybe it was us? i don't know. i know i've talked about it with a few people.
i think american politics and race relations needed both malcolm x and mlk jr. it's like good cop bad cop. mlk jr was about peacefully coming together, all races, to end segregation and racism. yay, everyone can feel good about themselves. malcolm x obvs. was much more militant and not afraid to come to blows with anyone over aa rights, alienating white people. but both made progress in different ways. i really think they needed each other to make that progress. and of course racism isn't gone, but.. yeah. this is not a fully formed idea so please don't think that this is the most intelligent, coherent answer i could have because it totally isn't !!
