you know, im not going to insult tina fey the way she basically insulted anybody that was still mulling over whether to support clinton or obama (as i still am). but for the record, her "reasons" as to why i, as a woman, am not in clinton's camp (simply because i should be because OMGZ she has a vagina and i do too) are ridiculous. no, tina, its ( Read more... )

i kinda thought this was funny actually. especially the part where amy poehler goes "deal with it."

i hear ya though on all accounts. and it's sorta weird to see a show like that get so explicitly partisan about an issue. that whole episode was kinda pro-hillary i guess.

the sad part is that both hillary and obama have to deal with TONS of unfair bullshit thrown at them. i wish it weren't becoming a piss contest between who's been more wrongfully condemned.

FUN FACT: tina fey grew up about 3 miles from where i grew up and the catholic school she went to is the same one my mom did (like 20 years prior). two of my friends took a summer theatre camp thing and she was one of their coaches, back in the day...

snl- for whatever reason- has always been pro-hillary???? it doesnt bother me though but this sketch did because its tone (particularly fey's) is so deadpan (but without the humor). i think its her IRL support of hillary that makes me feel this sketch is part-sarcasm but also 'HOW COULD YOU DEMOCRATIC IDIOTS NOT VOTE HILLARY"?

i think its LOL that supporters on each "side" thinks the other side is being "duped" by their candidate.

that said, i think both have undergone a raking over the coals that are unfair but both of them have their share to frame issues in ridiculous ways. the washington post actually had an article on the rising number of joking obama websites- not obama bashing sites- but those poking fun of his message. is that a story? or is that just playing into the "we, the media created him, and we can destroy him too"!!!

have you ever read matt taibbi? he's quickly becoming my new favorite snarkmeister... kinda like if christopher hitchens still stood for things i believe in... anyway, he has this great piece about hillary and how her campaign runs kinda like nixon's (e.g. a "silent majority" that doesn't buy into the hype of idealistic social change). i think it's pretty on-the-money. it's a few months old though, written just following the new hamsphire primaries...

i gotta say, if you watch msnbc for two seconds and see chris matthews, the now-suspended david shuster and keith olbermann blowing their load every two seconds over obama, this was refreshing and funny ( ... )

someone called in the other morning to say they were voting for mccain, but even if mccain didn't exist they'd vote for obama (even though he's.. BLACK!) because they do not believe a woman, no matter who it is, is capable of being president. UM OK.

i already told my dad i'm voting for ron paul because i had to pay $17 in additional taxes to the state of georgia this year. DOWN WITH THE IRS ! ga should be paying ME to live here.

The whole 'vote with your vagina' argument is so old, I'm embarrassed for people that publicly use that as their rationale for voting for that woman. I'm fucking sick and tired of the status quo and of politicians who run their campaigns with enough cynicism to last a century, and then think the voting public is too fucking stupid to see what they're doing. Bitch is desperate and digging her hole deeper by the hour.

i also hate that so many people are trying to over simplified this political race! vagina toters= clinton, minority = obama. uhh, huh? i think both camps have major problems. i actually have major beef with clinton's health plan. under her plan it would make not having insurance illegal. that is a far cry from "universal healthcare" and i dont like that she is trying to play that angle. her plan is "mandated healthcare" which is way different. obama is too liberal for me on a few points though & he's such a newb that im concerned. we need major damage control on a global scale and i cant see obama doing as well as clinton in this area. i agree that clinton can come off as a bit of a frigid bitch at times but i dont think a woman could be any other way given what world she's living in ( ... )

see, i like that her plan covers everbody vs obama's plan potentially leaving 15million in a lurch. in addition, clinton makes small businesses cover employees whereas obama's does not. but yes, youre so right that her adding 'illegal' is very problematic for me. i dont understand that clause. surely, if you offer universal health care, everybody is covered- how does one NOT have it? i mean, what is going to happen to a person should they not have it and find themselves in 'illegal' status- are they going to be fined or thrown in jail? more people in jail- is that what america needs???

bahhh.
i think sometimes hillary is 'hillary' because in times past (and maybe this time) to say 'clinton' could be referring to either? though there is george bush i and george w bush. but the first wasnt so involved in the son's campaign...i dont know. im just trying to think of SOME plausible reason.

i just like having personal freedoms. if the universal health plan is a good one, WHEE!! but if it isnt and a person wants to choose not to have insurance, bcs honestly some people just choose not to and that should be their own biz you know? america definitely doesnt need something else (stupid) throwing someone in jail.

the hillary thing just comes off a little sexist to me somehow. maybe im being too sensitive to women's issues though

i just am so wary of people not having health insurance because inevitably if something happens to them and they need medical attention- what happens? if i am paying into a health care plan, should i cover the hospital expenses of somebody that chooses to opt-out and suddenly needs expensive health-care and refused to pay into health care prior to "needing" it? i dont think that is fair to me (nor to the millions paying into the system).
