so, one of the most upsetting and gross stories to happen within the past few days is the maintenance worker getting trampled to death on "black friday" at walmart

it is very, very difficult. i WISH i could have whipped a camera phone out to capture her face when i asked her "so, you think these millions of people should be homeless?" she stammered but her look was basically saying "yes". it was so disheartening and icky and enraging.
lovely girl, i couldn't BELIEVE it when wife told me. i mean, to be honest, i really couldn't believe it. normally i'm rarely affected by stories of how cruel human beings really can be, but this just seemed, like, way too out there.
and then you think about all of the explaining that these people will have to do internally for the rest of their lives, like "i really DID think he was a discarded blanket someone had left on the ground!" wtf?!
i feel lucky that i have no siblings. thanksgiving is always a time for arguing in my family. and while i'm sure your sister is great at times, i just can't comprehend wanting to put more people out onto the street for ANY reason whatsoever.
you know- it HONESTLY sickens me that my own sister thinks so little of people and their well-being. the whole "kick them out of their house" and judgement-calls she makes turn my stomach as much as they make me angry. i mean, i honestly hope she is never in that situation because its only then that she MAY feel differently.
you know, i think some of the people figured he would be "okay" because a few others got knocked down at the same location! i think wal-mart and big chains cultivate that kind of hysteria as part of the "black friday" experience. the people were angry that the store had to close when they discovered he died! gross!
