at my godfather's urging (okay, begging) i saw "Valkyrie" today. and it wasnt terrible- a solid "B" movie- i'm glad i didnt pay, but it wasnt a waste of my time either.

i didnt find cruise's performace to be anywhere near as bad as the critics were claiming and the storyline was very compelling. the supporting cast was awesome and one could do

Cruise demonstrates, for me, why I no longer can take critics seriously. As recently as a few years ago, critics consistently praised Cruise as underrated. Since taking over United Artists and his outbursts about his "faith," critics have found it fashionable to bash his acting. I suppose it's possible that the overall quality of his work has declined dramatically in the last few years since Collateral, but I really doubt it. I find it much more likely that critics make the mistake of conflating his off-screen antics with his onscreen work.
