I did like the fact that she was a werewolf, because I don't think I had read any other books where the main character has that ability, but that couldn't hold my interest for the rest of the story.

(so even though you say you haven't read any other books with the main character having that ability, I'm still going to start this comment off by asking...) have you read "Bitten" by Kelley Armstrong? It was recommended to me years ago when I asked online for book recommendations and I completely loved it. It's also the first in a series, and my interest waned as I read some of the later books, so I never did finish the series, but I thought the first few were fantastic. Would definitely recommend. Definitely wasn't bored when I was reading it.

ETA: And in case it wasn't clear, the main character is a werewolf.

I haven't read it, and for sure, I would definitely be interested in reading more werewolf type books.
