Why doesn't "Occulus Reparo" REALLY WORK?

Thanks a lot JK Rowling.  I bet there's loads of little kids out there saying, "Hey, its ok.  If my glasses break, its no big deal.  I'll just reparo them back together."  Well you CAN'T.  And tape on glasses is still a bad look

Tell me about it. I had this pair of glasses in high school where the pin would come out roughly once a month. So, I would have to sport the taped glasses look repeatedly because, of course, I would always mean to have one of those little repair kits handy, but I never would. My newer glasses are pretty good, though....I stepped on them the other day and I just bent them right back in to shape.
