See, I feel all... I dunno, lame maybe, because I rather like Evanescence. On the other hand, I haven't heard much music that sounds like that (or perhaps music that Evanescence is trying to sound like).

I just don't understand it. To me they sound pretentious, trite, and utterly idiotic beyond belief. Today I had somebody lecturing me that at least they're good musicians, not some kids who barely have three chords mastered and are good only for screaming the fuck out of their lungs. A) Excuse me sir, but have you listened to the music I like? No? Please feel free to make further assumptions about my bad taste in bad music whilst throwing yourself off a bridge; B) If you catch me listening to lousy musicians, it's because they have something else going for them, like lyrics. Voice. Heart. And I don't care if you don't want to hear it, but a good scream is goddamn rock and roll, distilled; C) I also don't care if Evanescence is straight out of the orchestra pit. I still find their lyrics incredibly boring, vapid, overwrought, phony, badly phrased, and downright unbearable. I hate the singer's delivery, I hate the "juxtaposition" of having a delicate female voice over a rock band. It's not original. It doesn't touch me. I ( ... )

jesse malin is this dude that is cool.
i have a copy of his cd to send you. you'll like it. i think. if not, i'm sorry.
but i figure it was worth a shot to go see him. you never know what you'll discover.

let's hope you'll catch them.
and look and see how tiny they seem on stage. it's adorable and so exciting.
