i found myself trying to imagine what sorts of things Rimmer might compose. battle marches? elevator music? intriguing.

Yeah, personally I do have a hard time imagining what type of music Rimmer would write. XD XD XD Battle marches sound appropriate to me. :P The concept of it came to me as: he woke up with a melody in his head, and he used to enjoy music, so he decided to try to write it down.

And I'm glad it's not over the top, thank you. :) I adore Rimmer, but I try to keep it realistic.

ooh, interesting. its true that rimmer never seemed to enjoy the space corps. its a great idea that maybe he was good at something, too. lovely fic.

I really don't think Rimmer likes his job at all, he just feels like that's what he was supposed to do, and once you start investing years into something, it's hard to admit you despise it. Especially if you are very afraid of change, as Rimmer seems to be. It also seems like he surrounds himself with a vast number of strange hobbies which, with the exception of RISK, have very little do with the military.

I also like to think Rimmer must be good at SOMETHING. XD I love the little passage in "Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers" where it's described how Rimmer excelled in Geography for awhile because he loved coloring in his maps. Poor Rimmer.

THIS. Arnie is an artist, and like most artists who are the youngest in families with overbearing/neglectful parents, he never was able to make use of his true talent.

Though, I really wish they would have had him try after Legion gave him hardlight.

Writing music is probably one of the most unusual secret-Rimmer-quirks I've ever seen. And it works really well as a counterpoint to Lister's openly-expressed inability to play.

Very cool fic.

Aw, sweet fic. It's nice to see Rimmer have *something* going for him. *grin*

This line made me smile too: " the same constipated look he'd get sometimes when he was trying to figure out which color was more suitable to represent "two hours practicing salutes" on his master schedule. " Awesome! =]
