Social Networking in Brief

FaceBook is far superior to MySpace in every way that I can imagine, except two: 1) some few people on MySpace are not on FaceBook and 2) I understand that a big Chinese company owns a controlling share of FB, which makes me uncomfortable but I think we're far beyond the point of being able to defend our privacy ( Read more... )

How did you set it up to have your LJ and FB stuff automatically port to Twitter?

http://twitterfeed.com :)

Go to this link - http://www.new.facebook.com/minifeed.php?filter=11 and then you'll see the "My Status" under "Subscribe to these Stories" in the right-hand column - there you get your status update rss feed.

Your LJ public feed is at http://typsie.livejournal.com/data/atom

Also if you haven't seen http://tweetree.com it's pretty cool, check it out!

I decided not to do the MySpace / FaceBook thing. Once I have a written work to promote, I'll probably roll something out on there, but not until. I don't have enough of a life (or enough time!) to make unique content for too many sites. I'm on LJ and Twitter, and don't connect them because they're really for different purposes and different audiences. That's the cool thing about the Internet, each of us gets to decide what we want to participate in, and how.

Ping.fm is supposed to be good for multiple posting/crossposting. I haven't tried it, but I read a review recently.

I like myspace better because you can fiddle with the profile, and i can embed rap songs that autoplay.

Myspace is owned by News Corporation, though... so they're always shilling some Fox bullshit.

I only got a Facebook when I started school. Facebook sucks in my opinion.

I say screw privacy! I can't imagine anything about me that I wouldn't want everyone to know. Then again, I hear the words "too much information" about forty times a day...
