Those were field issue pain-killers, Bakura. Shinobi have been taking them for centuries without that kind of effect.

Either you're a medical miracle, or it's a completely unrelated reaction to something else in your enviroment. Given the widespread nature of this "epidemic," I'd vote for that, frankly.
