New year, new me?

Maybe. I'm not a fan of resolutions, but I have decided to make some changes in my life. One is to start taking some real responsibility about my diet. I always notice that I put on weight and am never hungry while I am at my parents' house and I always loose the weight I gained when I come back to the UK. Have you gone to a doctor about the headaches? It might help. Lack of caffeine can cause them, as well as stress and diet and exercise. I feel your pain, because I get headaches almost every day, and I broke down and went to a doc about it. She told me that sitting on my ass watching TV or staring at a computer, or even reading all day can give intense headaches and migraines. She told me I should go out once a day, if only for 30 minutes and take a walk, or exercise. I find that it helps. When it doesn't, I eat something with sugar in it, when that doesn't help, I take an excedrin, and when all else fails, I have a bottle of vicodin and take a half a pill and pass out. At this point in time I need something that will knock me out anyway because my headaches are so screamingly bad and pulsating that there's a good chance I can't sleep.

Yeah, I've been to a few doctors about my headaches, even a neurologist, but none of them helped. My mom had heard about rebound headaches a while back, but we never thought seriously about them. On New Years, though, I googled rebound and looked up the symptoms and figured that those are most likely what I've got. Migraine patients tend to get rebound because of taking either their medication or painkillers with a certain drug in them. And although caffeine is generally considered to help migraines, what it really does is speed along the effectiveness of the drug. Eventually your body becomes dependent on the painkiller and your migraines are replaced by a daily tension type headache and occasionally you will get a true migraine with extreme intensity. Over the past 6 months I began getting one once a month, then every two weeks, and then every week, so I figured it was time to stop them for good! The only way to stop rebound headaches is to completely stop taking whatever painkillers you take and in 4 to 8 weeks, most people have ( ... )
