For my applications, I translated the introduction to my Bachelor paper, 'the sadness of Bella'. (The title works better in Dutch, since it's a pun on the title of one the Great Belgian Novels). Reproduced here for your enjoyment/mockery:

Why thank you. I certainly try - there's way too much jargon and bad writing marring history books these days...
