A Road in Fog

It's foggy tonight.
The lights shed an aura
radiating only a few feet
before melting into the air,
filled with what must be cold tears.

And I cannot see where I am going.

Voices call out muted.
They're owners distorted and
twisted into a different world;
there is no one here.

I wrap my coat tighter
as the swirling mists try to reach
and steal away my breath,
to invade my world whose boundaries
dissolve into the white air.

The ground reflects the pallor
in a shimmery wet.
There is strange beauty in isolation.
