I know what it feels like to be watched and shouted at. Last Christmas was the most painful meal Ive ever, erm not eaten I guess. I couldnt. Not becuase I didnt want to, I mean it looked lovely but I felt so wrong cause my daddy wasnt there. *starts to cry* *decides thats a really stupid thing to do seeing as how her daddy is coming round in half an hour*
I have a feeling that Thanksgiving will be exactly like that, sans the missing parent. I have have about 54 relatives there (literally). Will all of them be staring at me? God, I hope not.
Thanksgiving is an American holiday that has historical roots in when the north american continent was first discovered by explorers. Canada and the US both celebrate, but on different days (about three weeks apart).
For Thanksgiving, we (the family) gathers together, cooks way too much food (which is in rememberance of the people who came here who were starving and the Native Americans shared food - you know, before we killed them all). The holiday has come to be a celebration of remembering and of family.
Food: always a turkey or a ham. After that, what you have is regional, depending where in the US you are from.
