cool to hear about your garden! we're getting all the peas and beans ready to go as well. also, the greens are a-sprouting and almost ready to plant. hooray for fall! keep me posted on the rain barrel ideas. i wish there was a distinction on watering a food garden vs having a golf-course lawn. it would be nice if the city could make an allowance for folks to keep a garden alive, but i do understand the need to ration water.
You have the ideal setup for rain barrels, since you have a lot of roof, and don't need to worry about neighbors being offended by an unsightly rain barrel. Although in your case, a 500 gallon water tank would do even better, and you have plenty of places on your property to stash this.
And since your garden is well downhill from your house, you'd have lots of water pressure from this sort of system.
