hh_sugarquill He had heard about, an hour after her death. He was sitting at the great table, staring blankly at the wall, when Minerva had rushed in, shouting something frantic. He could hear the words, fire, Voldemort, orphan and then, he heard her name. His eyes widened, his head snapped up and he looked straight at Minerva, stuttering a little bit before speaking.
“What?!” He’s told the information, that Voldemort found out about the secret hiding place that the Potters were in, and damn that Sirius Black (though, Snape pays no heed to that, as he knows that Black did nothing), and killed James first, rather quickly, though Snape has an idea that Potter didn’t go down fighting. Then he found Lily and the kid, and tried to kill the kid, but Lily, sweet, sweet Lily, wouldn’t let him, and that’s when she was killed. He’s also heard that the kid survived and his master didn’t, but he’s too angry too care - too heartbroken. He sweeps out of the room, his cloak billowing behind him, his footsteps with the loudness of a man on a mission.
He is a man on a mission though, because he has to let his anger out somehow, and he can’t let it out by crying, because he’s a man (but he wants to cry so badly) and he just lost the love of his life, even though she was never really his (damn Potter, being the one she fell in love with), even though he was promised, fucking promised, that she would not be harmed in any way. Yet, here he is, alone in the truest sense, with all of this anger, and nowhere to freaking put it.
By the time he slows down his walk and crumples to the ground, he’s inside the town of Hogsmeade, cold to the bone, not because of the weather, but because of the fact that he can feel his heart blackening even more than before, and he has no idea how to feel about that, because damit, Lily, you’re gone.
By the time he’s calmed down, he doesn’t know what’s going to happen next, he just knows that the next time his scar burns, he won’t be replying to it, won’t even be stopping the burn, as a reminder of what he lost for his monstrous acts against the love of his life, and for his master, Voldemort.
