How it happened, Key doesn’t know. He doesn’t know how the feeling- “that feeling”- just disappeared. Nothing felt special between Jonghyun and Key anymore. The butterflies wings ceased to fly in his stomach at each of his lover’s touches.
The kisses that sent electricity through Key’s veins now lowered to an uncharged sting. Jonghyun, the center of his world, became just another thing living in it. His presence was just that; a presence. Nothing special. Nothing exciting. Just there.
Jonghyun knows they are falling apart. Key’s distance screams rejection in the silence. He won’t admit defeat, the tower of love they build wobbles against the winds of time and yet Jonghyun stands at it’s side to keep it up. But Jonghyun is weakening. He doesn’t know when time will destroy his basis for living. He doesn’t know when everything he loves will collapse to shattered sharps in front of his feet. He doesn’t want to know when the horrible nightmare of needlessness.
The night hung in the background outside of the dorm. Jonghyun and Key sat situated on the couch watching some movie Jonghyun purchased on his way home early that day. Jonghyun took Key’s agreement of watching the movie has hope for their relationship’s survival, Key gave the agreement as a method to avoid the conversation that would crush Jonghyun’s everything. Key changed his mind, he no longer felt nothing for Jonghyun; he felt pity. Selfishness would cause the end of their love story, Key’s selfishness would annihilate Jonghyun’s heart. Pity played the strings of stillness. The movie stayed a ploy to stall any words between the two, but both knew what was coming whether they wanted it or not.
Jonghyun stretched his arm out, draping it around Key’s broad shoulders. The last test to see if Key was meant to be his. Failed. Key failed. The younger shook the arm off his body, casting it aside just like the rest of Jonghyun. Key once loved the security of Jonghyun’s arms around him, but that was before and this was now. Now that love didn’t exist. The voices playing on the television became an unnoticeable static to Jonghyun’s accelerated heartbeat. With hammer in hand Jonghyun placed the first blow to the tower he fought so hard to save.
“Let‘s break up.”

I hope you enjoyed this little slice of fail, can it be considered a drabble?? i dont know, but quick question to all of those nice enough to read and hopefully comment on my failness: in the time traveler's wife, did the guy ever live in the present??? Now you may wonder what brought this question but it totally makes sense... some what.
