Summary: Key and Jonghyun are best friends, but what happens when Jonghyun gets a girlfriend Key hates? Will they fall closer together or hang loose for the rest of time.
“I‘m going to take a shower.” Key rose from the corner of Jonghyun’s king bed, grabbing a towel and washcloth off the adjacent dresser.
“Want company? Everything is funner with a buddy.” A smirk played on Jonghyun’s lips. Continuing the joke, Key nodded with a small pout and innocent eyes. He seductively beckoned Jonghyun to him with a bent pointer finger. Bending over to speak in Jonghyun’s ear, Key giggled “In your dreams Jjong.”
Before the other could grab him, Key fled to the bathroom locking the door once inside. Twenty minutes later Jonghyun was standing in front of the bathroom banging his fist against the door.
“Yahhh Bummie get out already, I bet E.T. is less wrinkly then you!” The doorknob turns and out steps Key with only a towel wrapped around his waist. Jonghyun froze in place his eyes tracing every part of Key’s torso, committing to memory.
When did Key become so…
The brunette was suddenly whisked out of his thoughts hearing Key say, “Hey Jonghyun stop eye-raping my body and get me some pajamas!”
Jonghyun clawed his eyes from the younger boy’s body, mumbling a quiet “Glad to see you didn’t shrivel up and die in my bathtub,” as he traveled to his closet to retrieve clothes for Key.
Pouncing on the bed, the newly clean Key jumped under the soft blankets burying himself in its warmth. His body screamed for sleep, tired from the stress of school and the intense three hour dance practice he had endured earlier that day. But no matter how much Key craved shuteye, he refused to rest without Jonghyun sleeping next to him. Minutes later a shivering Jonghyun stalked into the room, sending a murderous glare at the boy in the bed.
“What?,” Key questioned innocently stifling a laugh. How could he take Jonghyun seriously when he was wearing pajama pants covered with cute yellow ducks? Not that his were any better. Purple bunnies cloaked the borrowed pink flannels Jonghyun had given him with the slogan ‘hop to it’ surrounding each creature.
“Because of you and your long ass shower, I had to bathe in freezing cold water!” Jonghyun walked over to the side of the bed, lifting the covers up and laying down as far from Key as he could . His face turned so that Key could only stare at his back, playfully depicting that the younger boy angered him.
Jonghyun’s bed, large and wide, could have easily held more than five sleeping bodies comfortably. The massive mattress allowed the two best friends more than enough room to stretch out and sleep separately. Even though Key was fully aware of this fact he still cuddled close against Jonghyun‘s body, closing any distance between the two, an arm wrapping around his waist to play with hem of his nightshirt . Key could hear Jonghyun’s heartbeat, slow and soothing; his head moving slightly up and down in time the brunette’s slow and deep breathing. Jonghyun’s scent filled his nose, dizzying his sleeping sensing even more. Key rubbed his face side to side burying it further in Jonghyun’s chest, hiding the growing smile on his redden cheeks. Key had seen less of Jonghyun that week then he usually saw in a year and made sure to cherish the closeness of every moment.
A hand slipped underneath Key’s shirt toying with the pearl skin, thumb tracing soft patterns of circles and hearts. Key wiggled away the touch ticking, but another arm pulled him tighter to Jonghyun’s side holding his body in place as the other traveled to his back cradling it. Drowsiness soon took over Key’s body, heavy from the day’s work, but before sleep consumed him Jonghyun leaned down and whispered “Good night,” placing a light kiss on his forehead.

“What’s wrong Jjong,” Key asked as they strolled down the hallway on their way to English, he had slept extremely well at Jonghyun’s house last night and was glad the day was coming to an end. However, the gloomy vibe radiating from Jonghyun put a damper on his happiness.
“Nothing, ” Jonghyun mumbled, head tilted down, the usual twinkle in his eyes replaced with a spaced out look.
“Spill it.” Key commanded standing directly in front of the brunette.
“Jessica‘s mad at me” Jonghyun huffed, eyes connecting with Key’s. “again.”
Hearing her name made Key want to vomit. Everything the girl did made him hate her more and more.
“What‘s her problem now?”
“She wanted to call me Jjong “
First she tries to cut off communication between us, and now she’s trying to steal his special name for Jonghyun! Key was running out of good qualities to like her for.
“And are you going to let her?” A hint of sadness in his voice as he spoke.
“No, I told her that only you were allowed to call me that.”
Jonghyun didn’t know why but when Jessica called him Jjong the name felt strange and foreign, unlike when Key used it. Jonghyun didn't want anyone to use that name for him except Kibum. He loved the way the name rolled off his tongue and was directed to him, only him. What if someone else had called Key, Kibummie? Would he allow the other person to use his nickname? Hell no, there was no way that would happen, Key was his Kibummie and no one else’s.
“Why doesn’t she just call you Bling Bling like everyone else?”
“Jessica thinks we could give each other little nicknames like you and me have.”
Anorexic blonde bitch would fit perfectly Key thought as they walked into their English classroom.
The teacher quietly graded papers as the class worked on the assignment on the board. It read: choose the person you care about the most, and using the first letter of their name describe the person’s personality.
“Hey Bummie” Jonghyun whispered. “What does it say on the board you know I don’t understand English.” Kibum couldn’t help but chuckle at Jonghyun’s lack of English skills. The only reason his best friend scraped a passing grade in the class was because Kibum was amazing at different languages and frequently tutored Jonghyun on a daily basis.
“Basically it says choose your favorite person in the whole entire world aka me and use the first letter of their name -K- to describe the person’s personality,” Key responded finishing up his list. After correcting the class’s papers from yesterday the English teacher asked for volunteers to share their list. Immediately, Jessica’s hand sprung into the air waving around vigorously . “Jessica let‘s give the others a chance to share this time ok.” Obviously displeased Jessica lowered her hand and sulked about not being able to share.
“Hmmmm… who to choose?“ the teacher questioned looking around the room for his latest victim.
“Please don’t choose me, please don’t choose me, oh for the love of god don’t choose me,” Jonghyun chanted from behind Kibum crossing his fingers for luck. A sigh of relief echoed from the class as the teacher said, “Key why don’t you share today?”
“Sure, the person I chose was Jonghyun. I think he is a joker, a junky of music, jumpy, jittery, and a jarhead but most importantly he is the most jongkey friend I have.” “That was pretty good Key except for making up the word Jangki.”
“No the word is Jongkey and it is definitely a word in my dictionary,” Jonghyun defended looking up at the teacher. ” It means very best, awesomely cool totally cant live a minute without and I think it describes me perfectly.” A satisfied smile found its way across the brunette’s face, no one makes fun of Jongkey no one.
“Well since your so talkative today Jonghyun why don’t you share your list” Kibum commented slyly wanting to hear what Jonghyun wrote. At this statement Jessica’s ears perked, her boyfriend had clearly chosen her she thought . The teacher nodded liking the idea.
”Bitch”, he mumbled only loud enough for only Key to hear him.
“Love you too Jjong!”
Smoothing out his wrinkled paper Jonghyun began reading his list. “K for kindhearted, king-like, and kittenish. Knowledgeable, keen, kooky, krazy ,kharming, kool. K for Kim Kibum.” The class applauded Jonghyun’s sweet ode to his best friend, all but the fuming blonde sitting in the back of the room. There she sat arms crossed evidently pissed at hearing the name Kibum instead hers.
A small laugh found its way out of the teacher as he exclaimed “Great Job Jonghyun, however placing K‘s in place of C‘s in words do not count.” The lesson ran on after this with explanations of nouns, adjectives, and verbs. Finally the bell indicating the end of the class rang loud and the end of the day. Jonghyun, Key , and Jessica walked out to the parking lot to Jonghyun’s Black BMW convertible. Deciding she wanted some alone time with Jonghyun she asked if the two of them could take a stroll together instead of driving home. Jonghyun never let anyone drive his car she remembered him stating on one of their dates and she couldn’t deny that the idea of Key walking home alone pleased her greatly. Jonghyun gladly agreed and grabbed her hand. but just as the couple was about to walk away Jonghyun shouted to Kibum and threw the keys to his baby to the boy. Jessica’s mouth dropped at this action, what the fuck scribed all over her face. No matter what, she just wasn’t able to defeat him.
It was Friday afternoon and while sitting in math class Key felt the vibration of his phone. Looking to see that the teacher was occupied with the explanation of pie, he quickly slid the blackberry from his pocket.

Key sighed placing his phone back in his pocket,a light blush coating his cheeks at the last message received. He hated sharing Jonghyun, his Jonghyun, with other people especially Jessica. She might deceive everyone else with her sweet and cute personality but not Key. The true Jessica was snobby and rude. She hated sharing Jonghyun too and tried everything to keep him away from the younger boy. All this week Jessica has isolated Key from the two claiming that they needed some “alone time.” This freaking alone time had separated the best friends from eating lunch together, hanging out after school, and even talking from one another. He wanted to complain to Jonghyun about his crazy girlfriend but when he sees how happy she makes him, Key can’t bring himself to say one bad word towards her. He had to put Jonghyun’s feelings before his like a good best friend would, even if that meant biting his tongue.
English was finished and Key was on his way home… alone… again. Not having Jonghyun around was starting to depress Key. With Jonghyun Key laughed so hard that he needed to clutch his stomach, gasping for breathe. With Jonghyun there were never any dull moments. With Jonghyun, he was happy
And without him Key was nothing.
