I live in one of those crazy states with a bottle deposit, so on new years day, I had the joy of taking back all of our bottles from NYE, plus the numerous diet pepsi cans that had been accumulating at my condo for the month into finals

There is this wonderful place in Cedar Rapids called the Can Shed. It's located near Westdale Mall, sort of at the corner of Edgewood and 16th Ave. Anyway, the will do the can counting for you and give you cash, not a reciept for cash. You can also purchase from them large boxes/bags to fill with cans/bottles/etc in which you return for an even $12. I think I may do that once we move and have a garage or basement to store that stuff in. For now, we just set all our stuff outside by the dumpster and someone else can have our $3, because it's just not worth the time to do those automated shit-hole can returns.

I'm going to have to remeber that and cart my cans home next time. Or I suppose I could find a dumpster downtown to do that...I don't think they'd disappear from here. The association did a pretty good job of fencing us off from the world, fortunately or unfortunately.
