But oh my! "Face the Day" brings back memories... The band was just called "the Angels" here, and I think it was on every teenager's favourite "mix-tape", stuffed into a Walkman with the headphones snaking out of the zipper of the school backpack... I remember meeting Doc Neeson at a record store, and having him sign a copy of their latest release LP at the time - I was speechless! - but he was nice to a dorky teenager with a case of almost terminal paralysis :D
YES! That's them! They were called the Angels in Aus but there was a 1950's group in the U.S. I believe that for legal reasons they had to be billed and printed on disc as Angel city.
This was a much lesser known track over here and no one I knew really gave it a chance.
If you ever want to toss your cookies have a listen to Grat white's version.
PS I Loved Stevie Wright's solo stuff as well. Another under appreciated Aussie.
One of my close friends is a HUGE Madonna fan. The only time I can remember he and I getting into an argument is when he told me that her cover of American Pie was good. He also liked her version of Imagine.
Believe it or not, we are still very good friends.
