Ding Dong Daddios

A reminder that they're playing in Reading, Pitcher and Piano, tomorrow evening. According to their myspace, it's a regular last-thursday of the month gig.

I probably won't be going, as I have a bit of a fever and fainted today, sliding down a wall and bruising my face. Elegant and sophisticated!

I don't think a full blown swoon is allowed unless you're in a corset.

I hope you're ok and I hope you get lots of rest and feel better fast.
Do this again and we'll have to fit you with a helmet- that brain of yours is an asset to the world, we can't have you damaging it.

Maybe something like a puppeteers rig, and rails on all the ceilings?

It was pretty silly overall, and I feel pretty much fine. It was creepy but interesting, particularly the part just before I lost consciousness, when I had no vision and only an awareness of my heart slowing down.

The most impressive faint I ever had:
I was walking from my computer room to the kid's room, and everything started to go fuzzy. I knew I was fainting, so I reached out to grab the doorway to try and steady myself before I went.

And I woke up a bit later, with my great great grandfather's full sized scythe next to me, the tip of it's blade embedded in the wood floor just an inch or two away from my head. I'd kept it sort of slipped behind a bookcase and somehow had managed to grab it and pull it down with me.

Needless to say, I moved the scythe away from the doorway.

I absolutely hate that fluttery panic feeling when your sight goes and you can feel everything slipping away and you can't do anything about it no matter how much you want to. Seems to me that's what dying would feel like.

I like the idea of the puppeteers rigs on the ceiling, but you'd have to make the cords elastic of some sort so you could bounce around on them when you were bored or do flips or something to entertain yourself.

Wow! That must have come on quickly. I had plenty of warning, and was sitting down till it went away, but the door rang so I went to answer it. I agree about the feeling of dying... My last conscious thought was something like: "Huh. Can't see. Heart's slowing. Wonder if I'll die?" coupled with mild fear. Probably limited to mild because I was quite tired ;) No visions though, shame. General anasthetic was quite different, no sense of fighting it, and much shaper transition.

Nice confirmation that death didn't want you that day! Secure your deadly scythes more robustly in future.

And yes, you're right, bungee cords or something controlled by motors, so you could be lowered gently to the floor when you passed out, and you could fly around your house the rest of the time.

Oh noooooo! Are you ok? Take paracetamol or ibuprofen for the fever and drink lots of water, ooh, and make sure you can touch your chin onto your chest :)

Are the bruises cool or just uncomfortable?

Ibuprofen can make me feel a bit swimmy so it didn't seem a good idea! Chest touching is fine (except I bruised my chin, so I won't be doing it too often :P ), and I'm only getting dehydration headaches after sleeping. So yeah, I'm fine, and I've felt much worse in the past and not even half fainted.

The bruises are mostly just silly looking, I'm afraid.

Fainting is pretty weird, I'd not done it before.

I've only properly fainted once and it is very odd, did everything go tinny and blurry first?

glad you're ok x

It was quiet so I didn't notice any sound distortions. Very strange visually - faded colours and choppy vision rather like a slow strobe, with a sense that I wasn't in control of my movements. I would recommend it as an experience, but somewhere padded.

I am sleeping a lot, let's hope that counts! I'd really like to do some proper exercise, I've not done any for days.

We will meet up for something after you're done Barding?

damn it man these are the things you need to get on film.

did you do the thing where you get up and think woo that was weird and then check each limb and joint to make sure nothing is pointing backwards?

I think I got up and fell over a few times! I would have been creepy to watch on film for me, but then I would know where all the bruises came from.

I did the "lie in a feeble pile while the sheen of cold sweat evaporates" thing. Probably not as stylish.

mmmm the cold sweat sheen, like the feeling on a hungover morning just after throwing up twice your bodyweight and then curling up on the cold bathroom floor.
