Oh, that is lovely! I like a noble House, and not only does he want Wilson to live he wants to make sure he has something (someone) to live for. But of course House can't be replaced (although it's a little sad that House is the only one Wilson will let see him as he is - but that's just the way they roll). Great writing as always, I like all the little details, they really make the story come alive.

And yay! another cure for Wilson :)

It is a little sad that there's no one else Wilson is ever likely to trust the way he trusts House, but as you say, that's ... Wilson.

I've had this on the burner for a really long time and it finally came together.

Thank you so much. I'm dashing off to the Day Job now; catch up with everyone upon my return. :-)

Very nice! I love

He looks beautiful, in fact, but House has always kind of thought that.

It's easy to imagine House being exactly as steadfast as you describe him here.

One minor thing: it's "kettlebells". I only know this because I bought one recently, looked up exercises online and was very surprised to learn that I had the name wrong.

Dagnabbit, that was me with the kettleballs. And I know it's kettlebells, because a friend uses them! How did kettlebells become balls? Brain, you are on notice. :D

Thank you, Zebra, for catching that! <3 <3 <3

steadfast

I had imagined that someone wanted to prove House's deepest nature, and -- just like the test Abraham passed with Isaac -- once he passed, they both were spared. But I preferred to leave that out of the story, because it worked better if we didn't know why, any more than House does.

OMG! I stayed with my heart on the throat during all the story!

I know you don't do death stories, but... For the briefest moment I thought you'd broke that rule. What a relief when you didn't - also there was no warning, so I was just being silly...

It crossed my mind that Caton (such a great name!) could be some sort of donor and in the end, House would have his heart. So many things had crossed my mind.

Of course the only one for Wilson is House and the deal was impossible to be closed because one clause would cancel the other. That is complicate for sure!

There are no favourite lines here. I love it from start to finish! <3

Well, technically I suppose I did kill House! I considered putting a warning on it, but decided against, given how it turns out. I'm actually glad it wasn't obvious what I meant to do. :-D

Loved it! It was so great to see a fic focus on House's devotion to Wilson.

Thanks!

I've noticed, if you look at the show, there are so many examples of House trying to save Wilson (usually, save Wilson from himself). His desire to come to Wilson's rescue is, I think, every bit as strong as Wilson's is for House.

This was wonderful. Love how you toyed with the word "replaced," and came up with a beautiful tribute to how much House and Wilson need each other. Well done <3

Thank you!

I knew how it was going to end as soon as it occurred to me that "replace" also meant "put [something] back where it came from." But that was in, like, July. I'm not sure how much longer it would have languished had Nightdog not popped in and helped me get unstuck.
