Some vid recs

Festivids is going well, I think. I have a Sunday afternoon off and all I can think of to do is procrastinate from errands and homework. And listen to my new radio (well, "new" from the 1950s, but still working excellently). My grandmother is selling her house on the Cape, so my family headed down to loot the place and to take a few loads over to the donation center. I came away with a lot of kitchen supplies, and with a radio -- which I suppose I don't really need, but I have a fondness for sturdy old appliances that predate current trends in flimsiness, and my less-than-10-year-old clock radio has stopped working in several ways. Anyway, a radio is good to have: there's something about music (or even news radio) that makes a home feel bustling and alive, and I can discover new music this way! I don't get exposed to new music very much, which can make vidding hard. Not that I ought to be starting any new vids right now or changing songs mid-stream for either my festivid or my october november? MFU vid. But I am going through a lull in inspiration for those right now, so instead of working on them I will rec festivids from last year (in alphabetical order by fandom):

La Belle et la Bete (1941): Temptation, by kuwdora -- If you've never seen this movie, it is the fairy tale of beauty and the beast depicted with lush beauty and eery magic on the silver screen. "Everything is made from dreams..."
Clue (1985): But Here's What Really Happened, by cee_m -- All the manic comedic energy of one of my favourite movies in one minute and fourteen seconds.
Community: TV Taught Me How to Feel, by gaby0189 -- A strange song, an apparently strange character, and a hilarious vid. "I know exactly what I want and who I want to be."
The Court Jester (1955): Jumpin' Jester, by Vesper Regina -- Looks like a very silly movie. "I said, doo-wop, doo-wop, doo-wop, doo-wop--"
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000): A Thousand Suns, by kaydeefalls -- A beautiful vid of five lives woven together around a sword.
Dead Like Me: Black Horse and the Cherry Tree, by Khaiell -- A vid about Daisy. "No, no; you're not the one for me."
Dirty Dancing (1987): Do It Again with Love, by Banbury -- Sweet vid of a movie about dancing. "Don't ever start it if you can't stop."
Jeeves & Wooster: Less Ordinary, Carnivorous Giraffe -- Rough, but sweet and silly (so, in every way like the TV series). I dare you not to laugh when, "My face, it said too much..."
Jekyll: I'm Your Man, by Nancy Blackett -- Dark, creepy, amazing, even funny. "I'd claw at your heart, and I'd tear at your sheet, I'd say, Please--"
Jericho: Anywhere On This Road, by LithiumDoll -- A powerful, beautiful vid. The show takes place after nuclear attacks. "There is nowhere to stop anywhere on this road."
Jurassic Park: They Want More, by bironic -- Hilariously great. One of those cases where the song had to have been written and performed just for this. "Look at me: I'm so sweet; I'm innocent and charming..."
Lost in Austen: The Owl Moans Low, by Dualbunny -- Femslash, short and sweet. A girl stumbles into the world of Jane Austen books and is seduced by one of its inhabitants.
Primeval: Don't Stop Movin', by Zhailei -- Once again proving that dinosaurs are always excellent fun! "Just go with the magic, baby..."
Star Trek: TNG: Want You Bad, by jmtorres -- Picard/Q. As the vidder summarizes it, "When you're omnipotent it's difficult to convince anyone else to top." "Complicated, X-rated, I want you bad..."
Youngblood (1986): What About Love, by Greensilver -- Something I love about vidding is how love can function as a metaphor for hockey, which in turn functions as a metaphor for love. "What about love?! I only want to share it with you..."

Also, some miscellaneous non-festivids vid recs, in no particular order:

Dante's Cove: Bad Boy, by SDWolfpup -- (Watched this ages ago, but forgot to rec until now.) Cheesy beyond words, not safe for work, and totally ridiculous. There really are no words...
Smallville: I Swear, by Dualbunny, Greensilver, and sweetestdrain -- There are words for this. Those words are: Clex, kryptonite, unicorns, kitten-babies... You have been warned. "And I swear..."
Stargate Atlantis: A Girl Like You, by bironic -- John Sheppard, adorably clueless, figures out what he's looking for in a woman. "Now you've got me crawlin', crawlin' on the floor..."
Smallville: I Like You So Much Better When You're Naked, by sisabet and Cappy -- Lois Lane, adorably everything, also has a fetish to work out. Awesome Lois vid. "Okay, you're kind of sexy. But you're not really special."
Hustle and Leverage: Working for a Living, by thingswithwings -- The Hustle and Leverage crew like to dress up as people who are. Because role-play can be fun! "Busboy, bartender, ladies of the night..."
True Blood: Alcoholic Friends, by Rae -- So for her, it's vampires. Haven't seen the show, but it looks like a good vid. "so when we get the sign from God, I'll be the first to call them."
Miami Vice: Caramelo, by Franzeska -- More dress-up, courtesy of Miami Vice femslash.
Supernatural: For Your Entertainment, by Grey Bard -- A vid of the trickster character. (Supernatural is apparently wackier than anyone told me about.) "There's no way to ring the alarm, so hold on until it's over!"
Dead Like Me: Circles, by sweetestdrain -- Excellent overview vid of Dead Like Me. Georgia learns to cope with her own death.
