...Zombie invasions?
I neva' really considered government experimenting. I don' think so, since nobody seems ta be goin' around stabbin' people wid needles an' all. Dey said we're just tryin' ta find out what's wrong wid our worlds.

Nicetameet'cha, Tim. I'm Firo Prochainezo.

Yeah, we had that some months ago. People coming back straight from their grave, flying through the sky and attacking pretty much anything that moved- it was like right out of movie. Just way more scary. Called themselves Black Laterns. I think there might be a connection to the Green Latern, but seriously who knows with those hero types.

I didn't quite think it would be that either, but it seemed smart to cover all the cliches first.

Nice to meet you too, Firo.

Ah no… the Green Lanterns are the intergalactical police… or something like that at least. There's at least one of them with the Justice League, so they are definitely part of the good guys.

Well, not that I know of, but considering all the other stuff that happens back home it's very much within the realm of possible.

Galactical? Is da [Can't help but smirk at that name] 'Justice League' like dat too?

[What about it? It's a perfectly good name for a team of Heroes.]

Hm, no. THe Justice League is mostly Earth-based. You hear about them going to space from time to time too though.

[Still smirks when he hears that name- becuase he's a bit of a cynical jerk- but his eyes look they're going to pop out when you mention space.]

Whoa... Wait, how do dey get dere?

Uh, well I know they had teleporters to get to that satellite of theirs and some have probably the ability to survive without oxygen… and considering who they are they have probably access to the whole secret Military and NASA rocket science… but heck I don't really know either.

[He laughs slightly, sheepishly.] It's not like I can just walk up to one of them and ask, even back home.

...Your world is really wierd. I have't even heard of some of dat stuff back home. Is Nasa a government thing?

Dey're dat secretive?

Really? … I suppose it would seem that way to someone who isn't used to it.

Uh… kinda. It's our national space program. It's been around for a while though; I think they've been sending stuff into space since the nineteen-fifties.

Sure… well there some more and some less. A few heroes even have public identities. But wouldn't make asking them less awkward, in my eyes at least.

So, what is your world like?

Wow...
It was 1932 when I left... Not much goin' on, dere was a drug war in da city but it ended pretty much without incident. I don't think too many people got killed.

No 'heroes' or anythin', unless you count da police but most of 'em are takin' bribes. Da few who aren't are still jerks.

Oh, and I heard dere's going to be another huge war in a few years. Did dat happen in your world?

1932… wow… I mean that was like almost eighty years ago.

Though that would explain it… the JSA didn't appear until sometimes in the fifties and I don't think there were any heroes before that…

You are talking about the second World War, huh? I think it started… 1938?… 1939? Sometimes around then.

Where exactly are you from?

Yeah, Estonia was tellin' me about it. It sounded like it was gonna be even worse dan da first one. I'm not too sure how it'd be possible, though.

N' York, it's a city in da U.S.

From what I remember from history class, Estonia's right. And if you take a look at history, there is always room for more escalation - no matter how impossible it seems.

I've been to New York a couple of times. My older brother used to live and work there.

Huh... I'll take your word for it.

Oh, nice. When we all end up back home I'll keep an eye out for ya. You said it's da 21st century?
