Is it just my imagination or have we devolved into a society of people who are too frightened to spent a single solitary moment alone? Is that why we fill every minute with cell phone conversations, IMs, Facebook pokes and LJ entries? If so the media have won.

I can't remember the last time I've turned on iChat or Adium. (Or been on IRC.) Perhaps that's why I haven't heard from some people in ages.

I find the whole Twitter and Jaiku type of stuff quite interesting, though I couldn't see myself using either service. Though I suppose it has its uses.
