I did... but I haven't backed-up the files I acquired from the last hd meltdown. This one is the final shot though because it's the 4th year for it. I did not expect it OTL

next time it's better to backup the files to an external HD or burn them into CDs.

I used to that but I got tired of it because the CDs take up too much space (lol), but you're right to say that it's one of the best ways to keep the files. ^^

Omg. D: I'd be devastated! One time, my home computer completely got fried and I lost 2GB of my music... T_T It was a terrible sad day to be sure.
