MILES EDGEWORTH, PARTNERED MEISTER (★) → SOUL TALK
Ah, Edgeworth. Possibly the guy who holds the most number of complex emotions in Phoenix's heart. To start off, the fact that they are seven years apart strikes a deeper loss for Phoenix more than he'd ever allow himself to admit. While seven years isn't anything like fifteen years, a lot of critical things have happened in those seven years - and one of them strikes closer to him more than Edgeworth here would ever know; for in Phoenix's time, the Edgeworth of his world was already long dead and buried six feet under. Needless to say, things are... complicated, to put it mildly. While Phoenix wants to believe that his future isn't going to be Edgeworth's future, a part of him is still terrified and frightened about the prospect of what might happen.
That aside though, there's another point, a far more important one: Edgeworth means everything to Phoenix (even if the other doesn't know this, and never will now) - he's always been the reason for him living on and going on even after his disbarment, and when Kristoph killed him (or so he assumes; the truth is really never known even until now) Phoenix sought his revenge which he accomplished. But before he could put the past behind him for good he got thrown into here and now he's seeing Edgeworth again - a Edgeworth who doesn't know about his fate just yet, an Edgeworth who doesn't know about the deadly future that may lie ahead.
It's partly because Phoenix feels wholly responsible for Edgeworth's demise in his world that he allowed himself to partner up with the prosecutor, even though he had no intention to participate in the war efforts originally and would rather stay on the sidelines and not risk himself (because after all, there's nothing worth risking his life for in here). He feels that protecting Edgeworth while they're in this place is up to him, and he needs to make up for what he failed to do once back in his world; and so while he is here and while Edgeworth is here as well, that's what he'll do and put it as his number one priority no matter the costs and consequences. Its his way of making up, and you can bet he'll put everything on the line in order to accomplish this.
FRANZISKA VON KARMA, WEAPON → DEMON BULLWHIP
To be perfectly honest, Phoenix doesn't have too much comments about Franziska - she's pretty much the same as she has always been, and Phoenix has never been in too much contact with her ever since Edgeworth's death in his world. Though if he has anything to say, he is glad to see her as spry as ever even in Death City; it really seems like nothing can ever stop her, just like her old man (but unlike him, at least she is a lot more better). Quietly however, he wonders what will happen if she ever does come to accept the fact that he is indeed the real Phoenix Wright instead of her thinking that he is just a fake.
...in an ironic sense though, maybe he really is just a fake.
MAYA FEY, MEISTER (★) → SOUL PERCEPTION
Oh, Maya. What can Phoenix say about her? She's the same as always in his eyes, even after all the times they've spent together - a nice girl, truly, and Phoenix has always regretted having to go on separate ways with her after he dedicated himself into taking down Kristoph Gavin. While he tells himself its for her own good that she has little contact with him as possible, Phoenix himself does know better. Right from the start she's always been something of a little sister to him who he resolved to protect after Mia's own death, and through their many trials Maya's become his one confidant, the person he can talk to after Edgeworth's death in his would. She's helped him a lot in many ways than Phoenix can count, and he's really glad that he's ever had the chance to know her.
However, now with him being who he is in Death City and this Maya coming from a time before his disbarment, its going to be hard to connect with her once more - especially since he isn't that all connected with the Maya back in his world too (he was still distancing himself, and she was busy with her own things.) But still she's the same Maya in his eyes as always, and he owes her a lot for the things she helped him with, so regardless of anything he'll still care and protect her - just in his own usual hobo way, because he really doesn't know how to do things otherwise.
MIA FEY, WEAPON → DEMON MALLET
Mia, Mia, Mia. How can Phoenix even begin with her? Right from the moment they met, he has always trusted Mia right off the bat - she quite literally saved his life, and more than that had always helped him all the way to him becoming a lawyer. Her death has always been something that weighs in Phoenix's mind, though he has overcome it; and even in the afterlife, Mia has always always helped him still. She has always been his inspiration, the woman who Phoenix looked up to so much and the one who taught him all that he knows and lives by in the courtroom.
But now he's disbarred, and to do what he had to do he did the unthinkable and forged evidence of his own. Even though it was to take down Kristoph Gavin... he still did it anyway, and by doing so he's turned against everything that Mia has taught him. Its something he can't deny at all, and its a sin he will have to live by for the rest of his life. To see her here in Death City... Phoenix really doesn't know what to do, or what to say. He's already cut contact with her by his time, and its... hard for him to really know how to respond to her presence here. He supposes all he can do is to take things step by step and hope for the best.
...but of course, now that she's sent back home by BREW, Phoenix supposes that one thing he can be glad about.
MANFRED VON KARMA, MEISTER (★) → SOUL CREEPER
Pretty much one of the last people who Phoenix ever thought he'd be seeing again - if he has to be honest, Manfred von Karma is all but a distant memory to Phoenix now, but in a way he's still memorable, because he did stand for a number of things in Phoenix's time as a lawyer (most notably the bits that involve Edgeworth). In the ten or so years ever since the conclusion of DL-6 Phoenix has looked a bit deeper into vK's history and trials, though he's never really pried out anything concrete. Still, to see him again after all this time is... strange, to be sure, but Phoenix will keep himself alert. He doubts that the man would present any form of danger to the rest, but just in case anything happens, he'll be there to make sure that Manfred von Karma doesn't try anything funny while he's here. Enough people in the past had already suffered for his injustice as it was.
KLAVIER GAVIN, MEISTER (★) → SOUL SERENADE
Funny that of all the people in his time to arrive here first, it would be Klavier Gaivn. Perhaps in a way it is not surprising - and maybe perhaps Phoenix supposed that he should have expected it. Regardless, Klavier's arrival in Death City is something that Phoenix hopes would not have happened. But it has, and Phoenix knows he'll need to deal with the consequences as they come. But still, he bears no ill will and resentment towards Klavier - though this was the man who officially made his disbarment a reality, Phoenix knows that Klavier did not mean anything when he did it; in fact, his drive and desire for the truth is most admirable. If anything, its really Kristoph who has to blame.
In a way, Phoenix can see the damage done to Klavier through the many wrongdoings that Kristoph has committed; for regardless of anything Klavier and Kristoph are brothers, and its never a pleasant thing to see one's family behind bars and sent to the gallows. Justice had to be done and they both know it, but it is still a fact that Phoenix has pushed Kristoph all the way to the corner - and then to his death. In a way, Phoenix is apologetic for that; but it was something that had to be done no matter what. Klavier, is, perhaps the last of the many people Phoenix had to hurt himself in order to do what he spent seven years of his life working to.
Maybe its because of this does Phoenix feel a certain sort of camaraderie towards Klavier - for now they're the only ones from the same time, the only people who know what the future holds, and the two who has, perhaps, been hurt by Kristoph Gavin most of all.
DIEGO ARMANDO / GODOT, WEAPON → DEMON ESPADA ROPERA
...how does he begin, really? Godot is the last prosecutor he faced in the courtroom, the man who he challenged and fought against last before Klavier came and broke his world apart. Maybe in a sense, Godot's appearance was a foreshadowing to the man he would be now today - or maybe it isn't, but it isn't as if this is something Phoenix can ever know (and nor does he wish to know, really). But whatever the case, where back then he could never really understand Godot - now perhaps, more than ever, he can understand everything that Godot has been through, for he has went through it himself. Like Godot, Phoenix knows he has fallen into the shadows of his own failures, and like Godot he refuses to admit to it.
Having Godot in Death City only serves to make Phoenix remember more than ever how he had failed Mia, how he had failed to live up to what she had taught him. Phoenix knows that, and he knows that its useless to seek Godot's forgiveness on the matter - he knows that its useless, so he doesn't even bother to try. All he can really hope is that Godot won't come to interfere too much in his life, and maybe just hope that they can come to something of a truce. Perhaps its something of a long shot, but that's simply what Phoenix hopes will be able to come to pass. He doesn't hate Godot - he can't hate Godot - so this is all he wishes for.
GREGORY EDGEWORTH, MEISTER (★) → SOUL TALK
Words cannot even begin to describe how Phoenix feels about this particular individual being in Death City. When he was young he had always idolized the father of the boy he treated with awe, and in some ways Gregory, too, had been a father to him in the time when Edgeworth was still Miles and he was merely Phoenix Wright, a boy with many dreams. When he heard about the elder Edgeworth's death, he, too, mourned the loss of a great man, and the father of his best friend.
Twenty five years have already passed for Phoenix ever since the infamous DL-6 incident which has claimed Gregory's life - but still, the man has respected the legacy that Gregory has left behind him, having studied his cases before due to the Jurist System. To see the man alive and in the flesh again after knowing so much more now is... well... interesting, to say the least. Maybe this was destined to happen seeing as Manfred von Karma himself once came and then left Death City, but unlike von Karma Phoenix hopes that this man will stay - at least so that he and his partner can finally meet each other again after so many years of separation. At the very least, both of them deserve this much.

SPIRIT ALBARN, REIGNING DEATH SCYTHE → DEMON SCYTHE
From what he can tell so far, Spirit does seem like a fine fellow to be around with - and to make things all the better they're both Weapons and single fathers, too! Spirit seems to be a man dedicated to his work and his daughter - two things that are important of course, and Phoenix approves of it. The fact that this person is the best Weapon around though is mildly surprising, and Phoenix is a little interested to hear more about him being the reigning Death Scythe. Partly out of curiosity, but also because he does wish to know more so that he can help Edgeworth in his own way. That aside, he also wants to know Spirit better; the man does seem quite nice to get along with. He's also been very helpful and supportive ever since his return from Michigan, and Phoenix feels that he can perhaps open to him a bit more.
YUMI AZUSA, DEATH SCYTHE → DEMON SNIPER
Such a fine lady, really. Apparently Edgeworth has her acquaintance, but Phoenix doesn't know her all that well. But lack of meetings aside, Azusa did save them from a horde of Kishins when they were washed out into the desert due to the flash floods, and for that Azusa has Phoenix's gratitude. One thing is for sure at least from that meeting however - Azusa is strong, and Phoenix certainly will know better than to cross her path. And in a way, he's glad that Edgeworth knows her, so at least he can be assured that the prosecutor's in safe hands should anything happen to himself which already did. She also 'warned' him about Marie, something which does intrigue Phoenix a bit... just a bit.
MARIE MJÖLNIR, DEATH SCYTHE → DEMON TONFA
Has gotten considerably closer to her ever since he returned from Michigan, and in a way Phoenix has come to appreciate Marie quite a fair bit - more than just her strength as a Deathscythe (which he paid witness to in the form of her knocking down a wall), her Calming Wavelength ability has also helped him a lot in coping the trauma he received while he was held captive. Like him she had a simliar experience in being taken hostage as well, though she did get off easier - but still, the knowledge that they have experiences to relate to each other does make Phoenix feel a lot better. Also accompanied her to Clovis' party and had a decent time there too, which was also nice for once. He's much more interested to know her now, and perhaps understand the intentions of Shibusen from her in time.
DOCTOR FRANKEN STEIN, TOP RANKED MEISTER (★★★) → SOUL PERCEPTION/SOUL STITCHING
Not much that Phoenix has to say about him, really - that giant screw on his head is a bit disturbing, but Phoenix's seen far worse things than that. This was the guy who used Soul Perception on him to reveal to him about his Weapon identity, and Phoenix is a little thankful for that at least. It's kind of hard to pinpoint what he really feels about this man, to be honest - on one had he seems a bit on the dangerous side, but on the other he is one of Shibusen - and apparently the top ranked Meister, at that. Perhaps only time will tell with this.
