A 14 Minute Preview of HBO's new fantasy show Game of Thrones is online for your viewing pleasure. I'm super, super excited about this show - I started reading the books a few weeks ago (no spoilers plz, only on book 3) and I am really enjoying it. I adore quite a few of the characters, but I really love all the political intrigue and think HBO is ( Read more... )

I've read the first maybe 3 chapters of the first book, but then realized how politically thick the story seems to be. Sadly, I can't really swallow that in text, but I'm super super excited about the show. There needs to be more fantasy on TV!

PS: I'm crimson614. I don't think you've friended my new journal, lol! I was wondering why I haven't heard anything from you in a while!

Ooop! Sorry! Looks like I forgot to add your new account. Don't worry, you haven't missed anything though because my last update was seriously in July and I hardly ever check my friends page anymore >.> I've been using my LJ to chat in comms mostly. Anyway, I'll add you now :D

I enjoyed the first two chapters (pretty much what they showed in the sneak peek), but I think pretty much everyone I know warned that I'd have about 50 pages of super boring stuff about Daenerys and her brother before things got interesting again...and I believe that was chapter 3? But yes, it should be fun to watch in tv form.

Hello, you! I'm on a wait list for Game of Thrones at the library, but I think I'll just buy one cause it's cheap anyway and I'll get it a lot faster. Part of me wants to just go ahead and watch the HBO series, but I've heard such great things about the books that I feel swayed to read first, then watch.

I'm aliiiiiiiiive! ;)

I really like it! I was resistant to it for a long time, but I finally caved when people started freaking out about the show, and I'm glad I did - they're good reads. It still has many trappings of the genre, but overall I think it tends to find a decent balance, especially because the characters are fantastic (I <3 the Starks). I'll just give you the same warning I had - you may have to power through the first few Daenerys chapters because her brother spends most of them running around being a jackass and warning people not to "wake the dragon!" so it's kind of like o.O But honestly, that's the most ridiculous thing that's happened so far.

Haha, thanks for the warning! I don't read much genre stuff, so I'm the person who's like "LOL DRAGONS" most of the time, but anything that comes recommended I try to just go with it!
