the summer we spent all of our money
(from working at the crab shack on the pier)
on novels from the old bookstore,
i realised
(between bites of cotton candy)
i fell in love with you
because your pillow cases were so soft,
your hair so brown,
and your voice so filled with some big secret.

Wow, that is one of the best poems I've read in a while. Absolutely amazing. Not to mention intriguing, honest, and simple (one of my favorite things...heh). Outstanding job... it makes me want to get off of my ass and write, as well as reminding me of many summers spent similarly. I adding you to my friends list, I hope you don't mind.
