I have a cactus!

Only one full day of Welcome Week is left and I couldn't be more excited for classes to start. I was finally able to get a copy of the anthology I needed for my American Literature class, I'm halfway through my Jewish History reading, and I'm psyched beyond belief in regards to everything else. I know, I know, this is ridiculously nerdy and I ( Read more... )

If you're not really really really dedicated to it, you will hate it, and the rest of the team will resent and ostracize you. Don't know how serious you are about it, but if it's just like a "oh this would be a fun club to join" type of thing, I really doubt it will work out well for you.

If it were the latter I would have just joined last year, when I pretty much knew I never would be able to take it seriously enough. This year I think I might actually be able to handle it just because I'm used to so many of the other aspects of college. You wouldn't know this, but basically here's the deal with me and athletics: I enjoy them, but I suck at running which rules out a lot of things for me. It all stems from the surgery I had when I was 11. But from what I know, crew is something I might actually be able to live through, and it would make me feel great to actually be capable of that sort of thing. In any case, I have two weeks of classes before even the meeting, so I'll have a better idea by then of what kind of time I'll have. I wouldn't bother joining and paying though, if I weren't serious. That's not really how I am.

The guys crew team runs to Dupont and back each morn to start practice. Dunno if womens crew runs as long but I'm guessing there's also significant runnage occurring.

Not trying to rain on your parade or anything but just wanted to inform.

My friend did crew last year but dropped out because she really didn't like it after a while. It really takes a ton of dedication, but only you are going to know if you really want to do it.

I want to, I just don't know how the morning practices will work out, plus I have to work my FWS job regardless, and that's at least 8hrs a week, probably more around 10.

awww thanks so much *hugs* The first day was surprisingly not as bad as I thought it was going to be, which was a relief. On the other hand, I already have a ton of homework to do :-\ I'll definitely try to call you this weekend, because you can bet I'll be needing a break. Have fun with crew team. That's killer that you have practices at 4 in the morning- good luck!

love,
Elaina
