Well he found the first one the very first day he arrived in the city near the seaport. It was rusty and was probably used for cutting up fish, thus not very effective, but he fixed it up as best as possible (not very well).

The second one isn't exactly a sword more like a long knife he managed to scavenge in one of the resteraunts.

Neither of them are "typical sword" length or sturdy. Just decent enough to cut through most flesh.
